March marks the transition from winter into spring. As temperatures begin to rise and daylight increases, many people notice changes in energy levels, sleep patterns, and overall routines. This shift makes March a practical time to reset habits and address physical tension that may have built up during the colder months (even though they weren’t very cold this year!).
Daylight Saving Time begins March 8 and while the change brings longer evenings, it can temporarily disrupt sleep (we lose an hour in spring). Even a one-hour shift can affect mood, focus, and physical recovery. Maintaining consistent bedtimes, limiting late-night screen use, and supporting the body with regular therapeutic massage can help ease that transition.
Spring also tends to increase activity levels. Yard work, outdoor exercise, travel, and schedule changes can place new demands on the body. If you’ve been less active through winter, muscles and joints may need time to adapt. Proactive bodywork can reduce stiffness, improve circulation, and support mobility as activity increases.
March includes both Spring Break travel and the early stages of allergy season in Colorado. Travel often means long periods of sitting, while allergies can contribute to sinus pressure and upper body tension. Massage techniques that focus on the neck, shoulders, and upper back may help relieve associated discomfort.
As the season shifts, consider using March as a checkpoint. Evaluate sleep, stress levels, posture, and movement habits. Small adjustments now can prevent larger issues later in the year.
If you are planning to spring forward with new goals or increased activity, scheduling consistent sessions can help support recovery and maintain progress throughout the season.
